Southeast exposure of Pickwick Hotel, built in 1926 by the Pickwick and Motor Transit Companies (M. Eugene Durfee, architect) for $110,000 on land leased from Fred C. Rimpau, located at 225 South Los Angeles Street (later Anaheim Blvd.); originally called the El Torre Hotel, name changed to Pickwick in 1929; hotel torn down June 1988; image shows hotel facade one week after earthquake in March 1933, with scaffolding along facade and cupola; several cars are parked diagonally along South Los Angeles Street in front of hotel; signage along hotel building reads "[PICKW]ICK / [CA]FE", "ROY MENDOZA" (accountant), and "WEST / BROS / TIRES / GARAGE"; two-lamp streetlight visible in background right
