- A stranger enters a small town in Mexico. Dressed in black and carrying a guitar, he is a singer named El Mariachi looking for a gig. Also in town is a revenge-crazed drug lord named Azul, who also wears black and carries a guitar and who is at war with his ex-partner Moco. El Mariachi is mistaken for Azul and has to dodge Moco's thugs. Looking for a job, he meets and falls in love with Domino, but she is a favorite of Moco. To defend himself, El Mariachi has to trade in his guitar for a gun
