East Center Street (now Lincoln Ave.), Anaheim, looking west towards intersection of Los Angeles St. (now Anaheim Blvd.), Anaheim; image shows large flagpole in center of intersection, with business buildings along Center St., identified on the south side of East Center street, left to right as the Mills Cafe, Cherry Blossom Confectionery, Weber's Book and Music, Kemp Bros., Mullinix Drug Store, and First National Bank; north side of East Center Street businesses visible are Hotel Antlers, Golden State National Bank, Central Building and Farmacia Hildalgo; several automobiles visible diagonally parked along Center Street along curb; five-armed streetlight poles visible along street; flagpole, originally presented in 1918 to Anaheim by William E. Alexander (president of Union Brewing Co.), with flag donated by Julilan O. Royer; in 1924 pole was taken down by Anaheim City Council as traffic hazard; due to petition submitted by citizens, flagpole was reinstalled on April 24th, 1925, with additional golden eagle emblem donated by W.H. Kennedy; flagpole removed again in 1935 and stored in Kemp Street pump house; rediscovered in 1981 and reinstalled in front of Carnegie Library on July 4, 1981, and later repositioned in front of Veteran's Memorial on Anaheim Blvd
